Actress Antonie Forman: A nomad from a good family<

Have you ever wanted to be an "ordinary" girl who goes after school on a date or to the cinema and at the weekend she goes with her friends at the cottage?

I don't know exactly what in this case it means to be ordinary. But I know for sure I wouldn't change my childhood.Of course, the nomading with my dad theater had advantages and disadvantages, such as long separation, but I never perceived that I would be something downright, dating, cinema or cottage with friends.Perhaps the only thing I remember that my classmates blamed me was that our teacher and friend Paul, who taught us in the next caravan, was riding with us, but at the same time she was my teacher in Prague, so he had to be "supl".

Have you ever been thinking with sisters that you would do something other than your family?

We all three of them had a period when we were naturally sought and tried to prevent some predestination. We grew up in it, yes, but the decision of what we will do and what we want to do in the future was entirely up to us.Rather, I have the impression that we all three wondered if we were even able to do anything else and whether we want. The theater has been attracted from the beginning, but eventually went to study the philosophy that is now reflected in its theater work.Emilka downloaded it to the theater as well, but she felt better in the organizational position, so a year after graduation she started DAMU for production.Well, I confirmed at the gympl that I really want to do theater, so my journey was most straightforward, I went to DAMU straight after graduation.

Grow up in siege of strong personalities can sometimes be binding.Did you feel it too?

It may seem so and it may have been a bit of a little bit. This is true in general, even for other descendants of famous artists. How many times do you ask in such a family if you act for yourself and really do what you want to do yourself. But my dad and mom had it similarly, they also carried the "highness and weight".Probably that's why we had the freedom from them, I am grateful for them. But otherwise I have already come to terms with the fact that I will talk about me as a granddaughter of Milos Forman than just as Antonia Forman.

You did both acting and dancing, singing, new circus. What was your childhood dream?

I always wanted to go in the footsteps of my dad, I enjoyed traveling, playing theater and having a group of people around me to create something.I am attracted to the theater where you can connect all possible professions, directions, functions, and how many times it doesn't matter if you control everything perfectly. With the dancer Cécile da Costa currently performs in the performance Nothing Else, Mothers in the Acropolis Palace, where we are on stage as an actress and as a dancer.Of course we each focus on what we excel in, but we are completing each other and teaching each other.

At DAMU you study acting at the Department of Alternative and Puppet Theater. Was it your clear choice, or did you feel that you could get to this department easier than the drama?

I know cases where it was as you say but for me was alterna the first choice. Not that I would define myself to the drama, but the world of alternative theater and puppets was closer to me.Maybe the little role also played the fact that dad studied there.I never wanted to do just acting, I like to try another position in the team, I try to be somehow flexible.

So any permanent engagement, wouldn't that be for you?

Probably not completely.I know that some fixed point is probably good to have, but I also enjoy trying and discovering new things.Maybe find a group of people that work well with, create something together, invent and then play it in one or more places in and outside the country. As dad's just like that.At the same time I have in the heart of Dejvice Theater, where I have been working as a dressing chamber for a few years.Josephine there for the Chamber Scene Anti. The quariat together with his mother Klara prepared the production of the liver according to the story of the grandfather of Stránský, who also loved Dejvická and worked here in the Art Council. We also had a few improvisations with the group NO and!Simony Babčakova. In Dejvice I just feel good too, whether on stage or in that dressing room.(laughter)

Before twenty, you got a big role in the two -part film David Ondříček Dukla 61.Dejvická also played the role of Dejvická, right?

Martha Iss remembered me, who knew me from the dressing room of Dejvice.I went to casting and David Ondříček finally chose me.I was some eighteen nineteen and I was freshly accepted at DAMU.Dukla was a beautiful job, especially with Martha, who played my mother.I am still grateful that my first film experience was just this one.

And did you face the comments that it was opening your way to the famous name?

Such questions and assumptions appear until now. They asked both me and David Ondříček.For him, the cast of an unknown novice actress was the biggest risk and I appreciate the fact that he put in me such a confidence. He just, I think, understands that it is not always just about the famous name.

Much of the story of the film Dukla 61 takes place in Havířov Mine, where in 1961 over a hundred miners died.In the 1950s, his grandfather, political prisoner Jiří Stránský, was involuntarily under the Earth..Did you talk to him about what it looked like in the mines?

At that time I didn't connect Dukla with my grandfather. But in retrospect I recall that he told us a few times what it was like, in that hole, and how hard it was to work.I consulted with him only my next movie, a ballad about a pilot that was made according to his book.

This movie had to be very spicy for you.You play your own grandmother!

Yes it's right.(laughter) Předobrazem hlavního hrdiny byl dědův tchán, pilot RAF, tatínek mé babičky.I was afraid of the role, it is, as you say, spicy when you have as a granddaughter to play your grandmother. But even this was a beautiful job because I could reveal the traces of my grandmother's life that, as I realized too, I didn't really know much about.I got a letter written by her dad, Karel Balík, and which she could read herself only when she was much older.

With your grandmother you have already talked about this story.Did she tell you about her life when you were little?

Grandma died when I was twelve. So I saw it for quite a long time and often, but I was a child after all. Before filming the ballad about the pilot I was thinking for a long time how to grasp the role, but Grandpa was in this great. We talked about the script and told me that not everything that concerns his grandmother's character is related to her. There is a scout there, but in fact he was in a scout grandfather. So I actually played not only my grandmother, but also a little grandfather!

Jiří Stránský was the holder of the highest scout award, the order of the silver wolf.Didn't you want to be a firefly?

Mum and I talked about it recently.Mom went to the scout, older sisters went to various camps. But I don't know why, my parents haven't gone anywhere anymore. Not that I miss it downright, I slapped differently, but sometimes I was frozen that I didn't look more into this community more.Grandpa was always terribly proud of his scout for years and scouts see.It was an important part of life for him.

We've already mentioned the liver's play in which you play in Dejvice. How was this family production about the journey of mother and daughter to her husband and dad, Měkl in the camp, gave birth?

I got to her with a big arc.The Dejvice Theater wanted to stage something from the grandfather of Stránský.Once he said he wrote the lives of the liver. So it is originally a story that he later transferred to the form of a theater play. And Grandpa, because it was just our grandfather, so the theater management suggested that it would be good if the game was directed by Josephine. But she hesitated, she wondered if she didn't just get the job because of her grandfather, but eventually she accepted it with all humility and she had a lot of way with it.When they started to edit the game with their mom, they found out that they would use one more character, the third generation representative.Credited her there and I guess Martina Myšička thought I would play the role.

Has your mother experienced the situation in the game, visiting dad in jail?

I know that when she was little, the whole family once went to Grandpa to see.Grandmother herself was there more times. It wasn't a pleasant experience.Mom is said to have grabbed as a teddy bear Koala and did not perceive the surroundings. She also has a strong memory of the day he first returned from the camp.At home was his photo of that day, grandpa looked exhausted on her, like another man.Mum also received a lot of letters from the grandfather of prison, from which the book of the story for Klárka then created.

Obviously a lot means for your family.Do you have any relationship problems, perhaps with nurses, or is it such an idyll?

Chcete nějaké drby?(laughter) Je fakt, že jsme si ségrama hodně blízké.We are each different, although for a lot of people we look like triplets.Since childhood we were not just sisters that are top of each other, we were friends.I am not saying we never argued, argued. And sometimes a lot of.But now we are at an age when we are, I think, even closer than ever before. We have already moved to our own, so we appreciate every moment we spend together.Although no one trusts us, it is such a sunshine between us.

Are you attracted by any common project?

This is our dream.Already as little girls we did common performances at home. Then we also organized various events like the grandfather's eighty -five and dad and Matěj's fiftieth. These were already a larger performance on the ship Secrets, perhaps for two hundred people.Last time we did farewell to Grandfather Forman on Žofín.We would like to be like Forman Sisters in the future. When we each settle down, there will be more time for it. Zatím to spolu jen takhle kujem…(laughter)
