Review: The course of the marital desire was more detective than a comedy<

Couples longing for the return of desire in their relationship come to the course of a relationship therapist, or Vojtěch Kotek, who promotes the firm embrace method. But if it goes too far, the accusation of murder by strangulation threatens, so the idyll will be disrupted by a tandem of criminal investigators.

Idyll is an understatement for a tourist guide of a certain resort, for whom the picture advertises to the limit of endurance. Especially in the first half, it seems that most of the dialogues and situations were created just to connect the natural area, horses, dog sled, swimming pool, sauna, restaurant, golf course, gym, kitchen, reception, terrace, lake...

Fortunately, the unity of place and time lends itself to the classic model of investigation, which is undertaken by a pleasantly bizarre pair. Radek Holub delights with his courtship at the camera for the director's prize, but the main fun is the commission character of Jana Plodková, who stubbornly refuses to leave without arresting someone.

The cast is absolutely appreciative, it includes names like Jiří Bartoška, ​​Lenka Vlasáková, Stanislav Majer, Vasil Fridrich, Petra Nesvačilová, Lucia Siposová and Lukáš Latinák, and everyone tries to find a joke even where it is only a clash of stereotypes, for example what women talk about with each other and what men talk about.

However, the film pays for its lack of genre preference, which is further supported by the music. As a detective story, despite the gradual uncovering of clues, it has a clear solution for a long time, which also results in a preachy morality about the need for personal freedom in every relationship, and as a comedy, it is again limited to partner mix-ups, corrections or exchanges.

Nevertheless, The Course in Marital Desire is certainly not tasteless, and if one imagines it on the screen, where it clearly belongs, it can be attributed to slightly above average. Already because at least the idea of ​​the initial plot differs from the current Czech overproduction of would-be happy romances.
