The queen, whose side she spent 73 years married, was remembered by the queen in a thank-you note published on Buckingham Palace on her birthday.
"On the occasion of my 95th birthday, I received many messages and wishes of all the best, which I greatly appreciate. As a family, we are now in a time of great sorrow, and we are all comforted to see and hear the tribute paid to my husband, from the people of the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and the world, ”said the Queen's statement.
Elizabeth II. she also thanked her for the support and kindness she and the whole family now receive, in times of grief.

The future queen and prince first met in 1934 at the wedding of Marina, Princess of Greece and Denmark and Duke of Kent George. They fell in love five years later and were married in 1947. The sons gave birth to sons Charles, Andrew and Edward and a daughter Anna.
The last farewell to the Duke of Edinburgh took place on Saturday 17 April in St. George at Windsor Castle. Due to restrictions, only thirty survivors took part. ■
