"In principle, it can be used for travel, but there may be a risk associated with traveling across national borders, where it may raise doubts about the credibility as a valid and undamaged document," explains Krátoška.

A woman must apply for a new identity card within 15 days after receiving the marriage certificate, otherwise she faces a fine. The change of surname must also be reported to the bank, employer and other institutions with which he is in contact.

Same-sex couples who have entered into a registered partnership and change their surname or status, if it is indicated on the ID card, also have to deal with the same situation.
