"The main idea is the reuse of old but still functional items. People will be able to hand in small furniture, household appliances and equipment, paintings, frames, vases, CDs, DVDs, books, magazines, toys, sports equipment and the like," added Deputy Mayor Milan Kouřil (ANO). However, according to him, the center is not intended for storing small household electronics, work power tools and other electrical equipment, nor for upholstered furniture
The Re-use center will open on Monday, January 3, but initially it will only accept items and fill the warehouse. It will be sorted and valued, and a website with an offer will also be created. "As soon as this part is finished, we will immediately inform the public that it is now possible to choose and buy," said Barbora Šnytrová from the city's local economy administration department. Prices will start at ten crowns for small items such as mugs, books, cutlery or small toys, the most expensive items such as bicycles or strollers will cost 200 crowns.
The center in Smetanova Street will be open from Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 17:00 and on Saturdays from 08:00 to 14:00. It will also be possible to hand over the items to the staff at the transshipment point in Proseč, from where they will transport them to Smetana Street. Based on experience from other cities and on the recommendation of the Ministry of the Environment, the town hall chose to sell by public collection. "We will use the proceeds to pay for the planting of greenery and its treatment, the restoration of parks, the purchase and maintenance of play elements on children's playgrounds," Kouřil added.
