Where to throw the toothbrush and tissue? - For women<

Article

Although according to statistics, two-thirds of Czechs sort, so you could already feel like a pro in this field, you might sometimes hesitate before throwing, for example, a glass with a metal lid into one of the containers, foil or oil bottle. On the contrary, you can make a mistake in good faith when you throw away paper tissues or an egg tray in the paper container. So what belongs to which?

Paper container

The blue container most often ends up with paper packaging of all kinds, statements and correspondence... You don't have to remove the metal staples from the stapler from the paper, you don't have to tear the plastic windows from the envelopes. The essential thing is to make the paper as unwieldy as possible, i.e. take the boxes apart or step on them, you don't need to remove the adhesive tape. Don't forget to tear or shred such papers where your name and address are, or even account numbers and other sensitive information. You can also throw books without hardcovers, catalogs and old phone books into the container.

Because paper fiber can be recycled a maximum of seven times, products made from already recycled paper do not belong in the paper container - for example, egg trays, toilet paper rolls and kitchen towels. This does not include used tissues. You can put all these things in the compost.

Paper for recycling does not include copier paper, tracing paper, reverse sticker cover paper, chalk paper, waxed paper, laminated paper or photographs. "Don't even put greasy, soaked or any kind of soiled paper in there. These materials can no longer be recycled. Even used baby diapers definitely don't belong there, throw them in the trash," advises Lucie Müllerová, press spokesperson for the EKO-KOM company.

Plastic container

The yellow plastic recycling container does not include bioplastics, foam, rubber, lino, Plexiglas, PVC - i.e. linoleum and other coverings, novodur or novoplast. Do not throw away toothbrushes, gramophone records, cable insulation, gaskets and any plastic packaging contaminated with dangerous chemicals. This all belongs in the collection yard or mixed waste.

On the other hand, PET material - i.e. all bottles, HDPE - i.e. food packaging, PET bottle caps, packaging for cleaning products can be perfectly recycled. Plastic bags and pouches or foils, packaging for wafers, cookies and sweets, white polystyrene, packaging for CDs, VHS and the like are also good materials. Plastic packaging with paper labels is also fine.

Beverage cartons

Beverage cartons are composed of several materials, so they don't fit in a container with paper, even if you don't have a special container nearby, at worst you can put them there. You can throw all at least lightly rinsed juice, milk, and wine boxes into the orange container intended for cartons. In most cases, you will find the markings C/PAP, 81 or 84. So that they do not take up much space, we recommend that the boxes be pressed down on a plate.

Glass containers

Glass containers are usually white or green - which is also the color of the glass in the vast majority. If you only have one container, it is usually green, because clear glass does not matter when recycling colored glass, but the opposite is not possible. White only includes transparent bottles, jars and glassware other than cooking glass. In green colored beer or lemonade bottles, plate glass, medicine glasses. This does not include car glass or metallized glass, or even mirrors, throw them in the mixed waste. You can throw glass in containers with stickers and lids, you don't even have to rinse them.

Although glass seems to you to be the same material, differing only in color, it really has a different composition if it is glass for cooking, for cars or for windows, so it must be treated differently during recycling - and that is why it distribution.
