The plaintiff has no doubts

As a defendant, she brought in a 34-year-old LB, who was the husband of the deceased, as a defendant. That is why no further details can be given about it: the law does not allow the publication of facts that would make it possible to reveal the identity of the victim of a violent crime. Attorney Martin Suska has no doubts that he was the one who had the fatal attack on his conscience: at the time the woman was injured, she was only in the company of her husband at the time.

However, LB denies any guilt. "I did not do it," he said in the Chamber - and therefore sees no reason why he should pay the compensation required in the criminal proceedings: after two million crowns to each of the two children who died (one of them is his son) and after one million to her parents. A total of six million crowns.

He does not deny that marital quarrels were no exception, just as jealous of the scene: because of his time at work, his partner allegedly suspected him - wrongly and completely wrongly - that he still had someone else. However, the fateful evening was calm. No quarrel, conflict; nothing like that. On the contrary, witnesses from around the victim, both her friend and ex-boyfriend, who were heard as witnesses, are quite clear: her husband was afraid of her as a rapist and wanted to end the relationship: according to her friend, she was about to leave, she said she wanted to divorce. However, the defendant is just waving his hand over it: the word divorce was said to be a common part of communication in "Italian" marriage without meaning. As well as mutual sending "to p…".

A neighbor living nearby has no doubt that when he was outside his house that evening, he heard a verbal conflict; but it was impossible to understand what was going on. And he can't comment on his finale: on the one hand, he had a ladies' visit, on the other hand, the rain came, which forced him to take refuge inside.

An unknown acquaintance allegedly appeared

The defendant insists that there was another man in the dormitory room the night before the tragedy: a redhead allegedly nicknamed Boris, who introduced himself as Honza. According to his own words, he had seen him for the first time a few days earlier when they had accidentally met him in a pub, but his wife had known him before.

This man was supposed to come to visit after the couple stopped drinking in a Vietnamese store, returned to a hostel, continued to drink beer, and LB started brewing China after a walk related to drinking - it was said to be about 12 beers. According to him, the guest introduced himself to Jim Beam's bottle, and so did the shots; in fact, the bottle almost fell. LB testified that he was looking at cooking at first as the newcomers and his wife talked about the old days, to which he did not pay much attention. He came in contact with him the moment Boris packed his marijuana and he kicked him out the door so he wouldn't smoke in the presence of the baby; outside he then messed with him. And then he invited him to come and help him when Boris said he was cooking somewhere in the mountains.

The defendant further testified that under the influence of drunk alcohol, he "fell off" sometime around ten in the evening and went to bed. At that moment, he reportedly saw his wife at the kitchen counter and Boris leaving as he was phoning someone in the hallway. "The last memory is that I laid my head on the pillow - and the skirmish," he said in the courtroom. According to him, the baby's crying woke him around half past three in the morning. He gave his son the milk that his wife always prepared next to the microwave, repacked it - and then went to look for his wife when she wasn't in bed. He found her lying on the floor in the bathroom, noticing an injury to her chin and a bulge in her forehead. He didn't know what to do, so he woke his neighbors. The man next door reportedly came to see him, said that he was snoring a drunk woman, advised him to put her head on a towel and let her sleep where she was.

According to LB, he stayed with his wife after his departure. He thought he was breathing less and less and couldn't feel the pulse in his neck, so he decided to call an ambulance. However, his cell phone failed (the defendant explains that he had thrown him to the ground a few days earlier when his wife called him and reproached that he did not want to talk to her when he was at work), he could not find his wife's phone, and so again he sought help in the neighborhood. However, there were no longer any valid recovery attempts according to the telephone instructions of the rescue service operator or the resuscitation that the ambulance crew sought.

Just domestic "Italy" or abuse?

LB repeatedly refuses to attack his wife, much less so that it would lead to death. He has no explanation for what happened. In fact, she says, "Boris could have tried it on her, she didn't want him, and he could have run after her." But people close to the victim have no doubts about the perpetrator. "She wanted to leave him; she said she was afraid of him, "said a friend who spoke, for example, about hiding monocles under sunglasses. “They just had Italy at home; it was good for a while, then not again. They argued, they fought, they fought, then they made love again, "she told the court how her friend's marriage seemed to her. The expartner, who was in contact with the killed even after she started living with LB and married him, spoke directly about domestic violence and abuse. He mentioned specific cases, specific injuries - such as the orbital fracture in 2018 - and even brought a file of medical reports to court. "You let me hide them," he explained. He is also said to have been attacked by the defendant. "I don't have my teeth ready to this day," he said of the May 2018 incident, complaining that nothing had happened to the police or the "misdemeanor commission."

There may be a palpable penalty in the game

Senate President Alexandra Chrdle has scheduled a main hearing date for Monday next week. However, it can be expected that the regional court will get to the verdict later. If guilty is found guilty and the legal qualification proposed by the prosecution is used, a fatal sentence of between eight and sixteen years could be imposed for serious fatal injuries.
