Ukraine has reportedly arrested a sniper who shot people on the Maidan<

The revolutionary events of early 2014 ended with the fall of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych. Bloody clashes in the central Independence Square claimed a hundred lives at the time.

The overthrow of Yanukovych's leadership was followed by Russia's annexation of Crimea and the outbreak of an uprising in eastern Ukraine's Donbas, where fighting has since claimed 10,000 lives.

According to Interfax agency sources, the man was detained at the beginning of November. The suspect allegedly worked as a sniper in the anti-terrorist unit of the Ukrainian National Guard. In 2015, the security forces released him.
