Containers for old textiles for charity will appear in Jihlava<

The project in the regional town of Vysočiny is being launched by the Jihlava Regional Charity. "It is our reaction to the increasing interest of the city's residents, who are constantly contacting us and asking what to do with clothing that they no longer have a use for and would like it to continue to serve," explained Jihlava charity worker Hana Fexová.

The organization was inspired by the "mother" organization in Brno, where the project has been operating for over a year.

In addition, containers for old textiles will appear in the streets. The two large yellow containers should start serving from November at the latest.

Where will the collection be?

The regional charity Jihlava will open a collection point for old textiles in October at Žižkova 99, next to the cemetery. It will be open from Monday to Thursday. It will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays, and until 3:00 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays. By the end of October, there will also be two special containers for clothes in Jihlava, one will be at OD Patrol in Romana Havelky Street and the other in front of Tesk.

The textile collection is located in Žižková street right next to the city cemetery. Jihlava councilors agreed to provide it free of charge.

Containers for old textiles will appear in Jihlava for charity

At the end of October, new yellow containers will appear at two locations in Jihlava. One will stand in the area between the Patrol department store and the Vodní Ráj aquapark in Romana Havelky Street. The second container is to be built in front of the Tesco hypermarket in Březinká.

"We have been promised from both locations that these containers can be there," added Katarina Ruschková, head of the environment department of the Jihlava municipality.

Containers for textiles will be 3.5 meters wide and two meters deep. "The containers will have two opening boxes with a tub inside. They will also be equipped with a kind of roof and it will be impossible to take anything out of them through this opening," she rejected the possibility of possible "looting" " and the mess around the Ruschková containers.

Workers will be supplied by the labor office

Containers will not be intended for things other than worn clothes and old textiles. "Shoes, toys, electrical appliances are not to be brought to these places, the containers will only be used for textiles," Ruschková pointed out. "In the first phase, it can be expected that there will be a lot of things in the containers, people will like to clean out their cupboards at home," hinted Deputy Mayor Rudolf Chloupek.

In the future, according to Ruschková, it is not excluded that other containers will appear in other parts of Jihlava.

When collecting textiles, the regional charity will also use unemployed people registered at the employment office. "From October 1, five people registered at the labor office should join the public service, where they will help in receiving and sorting clothes in Jihlava," mentioned Fexová. One permanent job will be added to them.

Textiles will also relieve the landfill

Clothing will be sorted in the charity's premises, and the charity will then use the selected clothing. One of the forms are special stores that offer textiles to those in need at symbolic prices. However, there will be no such store in Jihlava for the time being.

"In the future, it will be decided by the interest of the population," Fexová added.

Part of the clothing will also be sold to other customers. "This is not a profitable activity, so we have to cover the operating costs associated with the project," explained Fuchsová. According to Deputy Mayor Chloupek, thanks to the old textile collection project, the volume of waste deposited at the landfill in Henčov could also be reduced.

A collection point for old textiles and two containers for clothing will be added in Jihlava.
