Boredom can also benefit children

In connection with the planning of every leisure time of children, there is often talk of overburdening them, but it is not just about that. Boredom is also important for children in terms of strengthening their own will to create their own entertainment.

If children get used to their parents' plans for afternoons and weekends whenever they don't, they find themselves in a situation where they can't cope on their own, and then end up faster on a computer, tablet or watching TV.

"It is during the moments when you do not pay attention to your children that their interests begin to show. In a long time, a sports-based child will be looking for movement in every possible way, children with artistic talent will probably reach for crayons and draw, and children with the need to create will head to the building sets or build their own fortress from pillows, "explains pediatric therapist Pavlína Schejbalová.

The more free space and time you give your child, the more you will be able to face the challenges, the more he will develop his own creativity and at the same time the easier he will realize what he really enjoys and is interested in. In addition, as an adult, he will be able to better manage problems and adapt to new situations.

A pretty good parent is better than a perfect one

Parents should not plan their free time for their children, but only set rules for how much time they can spend per day on television and other technologies, and intervene more only when children are lazier and do not have enough exercise during the day.

"When your children have a long time, there is no reason to think about it. Even school is sometimes annoying and life in general should not be an endless stream of entertainment, which people used to accept without any problems. Today it is different. A similar lack of controlled activity is perceived almost as a parental failure. The main thing is a healthy approach, where you will find an interesting circle for your children, for example, but do not plan their daily schedule from morning to evening, "advises Schejbalová.

There is no unsportsmanlike child, it is all about the approach of the parents and the choice of the child

How to choose the right ring?

According to Schejbalová, it is good to offer children opportunities to open more doors, so to speak, and let them try what they enjoy.

If you choose sports rings, you can be inspired, for example, on the sportvokoli.cz website.

However, from the perspective of children's healthy development, parents should be aware that it does not matter how the child moves, but that it does. Lack of physical activity has worse consequences than inappropriate types of sports or the risk of injury.

“Sports clubs are ideal fun for preschool and school children, at least once a week for 90 minutes. The more actionable, the more beneficial from the point of view of physiotherapy, the child strengthens the muscles, improves coordination and endurance. But if I were to be consistent as a physiotherapist, I would choose sports that help maintain good posture, such as dance, ballet, gymnastics, or support versatility, including athletics or swimming, ”recommends physiotherapist Iva Bílková from the Prague Physioclinic.

Don't know what sport to put your child in? Try athletics. It also provides a basis for other sports for children

If you would like to give your children a sports club, but it is beyond your financial means, then do not be afraid to contact one of the charities.

"One of the options is, for example, addressing the Czech Olympic Foundation, which supports athletes aged 6 to 18. The foundation does not care primarily about children's talent, but about their desire to play sports. The aim of the foundation is to enable sports for children who are prevented from doing so by the lack of money, so that sport is not only the prerogative of the rich, "points out Tereza Vyhnálková from Sazka, who is the foundation's main partner.

Children should move with peace and joy. Not with the vision of a medal at the OlympicsChildren
What to look for when choosing a ring
The nature and hobbies of the child - consider whether he has the prerequisites for individual or collective activities. Does he prefer to move and play sports or tends to artistic matters? Is he mature enough for the chosen ring and can he handle it? A child who manifests itself more as an introvert will probably not enjoy the activities of a drama circle or "aggressive" movement games. A similarly thoughtful and rather introverted boy, who most often chooses to draw or look at books as a spontaneous game, will not help to overcome the shyness of other children if his parents force him to attend a highly contact collective sport.
The financial side - it's not just the circle itself, but also the equipment that relates to it (for example, some sports activities change equipment several times a year, which of course requires more investment), and transportation.
Perspective - consider whether the child will survive the chosen activity, especially due to the evaluation of the funds spent. The long-term cultivation of an interest or hobby can also affect the nature of a person's relationship to the future. Often, hobby activities will also influence the choice of future study orientation or individual's profession.
