Veronika does not deny the initial shock, but she defends herself against marking her son as ill. "She'll just have a lifelong low-protein diet," she concludes, still a little painful for her. She prefers to talk about her foundation, which helps children from orphanages like she did years ago to know the world outside the walls of the orphanage and stand on their own two feet.

What does the word home mean to you? A few years back, I would say an orphanage. Even when I toured orphanages within my foundation, I always felt at home. That I still belong there, that we're on the same ship. But now I rather think that home is a place in me, my son, my partner and nature in the place where we live. We take home inside.
