Slechtová wants to get married, Okamura threatens to jump from the window: the Chamber of Deputies gave a chance to gay marriage<

The Chamber of Deputies started the opening debate on drafts relating to marriage three years ago in November. Then she returned to the discussion the year before last March. Subsequent efforts to continue the discussion of these parliamentary amendments were not successful. Since 2006, a so-called registered partnership has been possible in the Czech Republic. However, this does not allow same-sex couples the right to adopt children, to inherit, or the right to information about their partner's state of health, for example when he is hospitalized. Pavel Bělobrádek (KDU-ČSL) mentioned that he understands that someone may be offended by the term registered partnership, because only cars are registered.

Chairman of the parliamentary constitutional and legal committee Marek Benda (ODS) pointed out that it is known that none of the proposals has a majority in the Chamber. Therefore, according to him, the drafts were not discussed. "We're playing a kind of culture war here," said Benda, who opposes same-sex marriage.

Tomio Okamura (SPD) said that his movement has nothing against registered partnership. He mentioned that his younger brother is gay and that he likes him very much. He spoke out against the adoption of gays and lesbians. "One of the biggest lies is that children from orphanages will be better off in a family with a same-sex couple. This is said by people who have never been to an orphanage. Unlike me,” Okamura said, adding that he experienced bullying when he was in a room with 15 children. But he would never want to be adopted by a same-sex couple. He would rather jump out of the window.

Zuzana Majerová Zahradníková (Tricolor) submitted a motion to reject the discussion of this item. According to Markéta Pekarová Adamová (TOP 09), same-sex couples also deserve the opportunity to marry. He does not agree that the marriage of gays and lesbians would mean the apocalypse for society.

Deputy Marek Výborný (KDU-ČSL) refuses to relativize the state of marriage and dilute it for everyone. "It should be included in the Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms that not only family and parenthood, but also marriage are under the protection of the law. The basis of the family is only father and mother," said Výborný. He mentioned that at the time of the confirmed conflict of interest between the prime minister and Russian agents running around, such a debate is unnecessary and a waste of time. "Today's crisis of the family is not caused by homosexual couples, couples themselves are to blame for this crisis by their lack of care for their relationships," emphasized Výborný.

KDU-ČSL chairman Marian Jurečka spoke out against marriage for all. According to him, marriage is the union of a man and a woman and creates the conditions for raising children. He has five children himself.

Šlechtová: I would also like to get married one day

MP Karla Šlechtová ( ANO) defended the proposal in the House of Representatives. "I would also like to get married one day, not register. I myself had relationships where there were children, but as a non-biological parent I had no rights to them," said Šlechtová.

“Marriage for all is the solution, it will not increase the number of divorces. Everyone has the right to it, because we are all human," said MP Marcela Melková (ANO) and mentioned the states where unions of same-sex couples are legalized. Among them are Denmark, Finland, France, Ireland, Iceland, Luxembourg, Germany, the Netherlands and Norway.

Culture Minister Lubomír Zaorálek (ČSSD) said that, according to the debate on the issue, it seems to him that there is a dispute over the word marriage, but that he can imagine a solution that homosexual couples will get the same rights as heterosexual ones, only it will not be called marriage .

The punishment of restricting freedom of expression on public social networks is promoted by a group of deputies headed by Václav Klaus Jr. (Tricolor). According to the amendment to the Criminal Code, the operators or administrators of these internet platforms could face up to three years in prison, a ban on activity, or a fine for deleting user contributions.
