A 15,000 mm water column will be sufficient for a city jacket that will not often be exposed to changeable mountain weather. A water column of 20,000 mm is suitable for a proper outdoor jacket that you want to use even in wind and long-lasting rain.

In addition to the water column, it also depends on how comfortable the jacket itself is. If it is elastic and breathable, so that it does not tend to steam when moving.

Children are more prone to colds than adults. It is therefore very important that they are properly dressed for rainy weather. As with adults, a waterproof extended jacket should play a role.

In rainy weather, don't forget the right shoes - both when hiking and when walking through city streets. Wellies will reliably protect against water, but also waterproof trekking shoes, which are more suitable for off-road use.

When choosing shoes in general, focus not only on whether they have a waterproof membrane, but also don't forget about a rougher anti-slip sole so that you don't slip on a wet surface and cause yourself injury. At the same time, pay attention to the comfort of the foot itself, as well as easy taking off and putting on.
