The originally German designer Martin Drechsel, who currently runs his studio in Switzerland, designed the Apero chair collection for the Italian outdoor furniture manufacturer EMU. They are a contemporary interpretation of traditional German plywood chairs. The subtle metal chair for year-round outdoor use has a version of a classic chair, a chair with armrests and a bar stool.

“The collection was created for moments when everything seems so simple. Like when the sun sets and people gather in the square or by the sea for an aperitif. In Switzerland it's called Apero," says product designer Martin Drechsel, who designs furniture, home accessories and watches for various global brands in his Swiss studio.

The Apero chair has a seat made of longitudinal lines and a backrest made of horizontal lines, which, when they intersect when the sun's rays fall on them or are viewed, create a grid effect. The chair is stackable, light and produced in a total of 13 colors. Thanks to the special production process, it is outdoor all year round. For greater comfort, the designer also designed a special seat cushion that is attached to the chair from the front and then clicks so that it does not slide when moving.
