Who doesn't know the character of Čestmír Mázel from the Surgery in the Rose Garden? Actor Petr Rychlý, together with Ivana Jirešová, who plays the nice bartender Lucia, is the only one who has been going through the series from the first part to the present day. The role of a sympathetic doctor has grown to his heart, and no one is likely to deny it to him. Like Čestmír Mázl, he experienced many joys, but also worries, without which life simply cannot do without. How did time go with this character?

2005/2006 - first series

In the first seasons, he appears as a confident, slightly unscrupulous and ambitious gynecologist who has a weakness for women, is the head of a tennis club and can intrigue. He has been cheating on his wife with two children for several years and maintains a secret love affair with his colleague Gita. His wife Marcela wants to divorce him because of that. She herself has a parallel relationship with the current director White. Mazl moves to Gita and later takes his son Jakub with him. Marcela is found to have an aggressive type of cancer and the family mourns her death at the end of the season.

2006/2007 - second series

Čestmír and Gita are trying to start a private practice in Růžovka and at the same time face the threats of a relationship, such as his infidelity with pediatrician Bělá Páleníková. The fall of 2007 is becoming dramatic for him as he fights colon cancer. Although she manages to do this, she even wants to get married with Gita, but on a business trip to Berlin, she gets caught up in a fight at the station and dies as a result of injuries.

2008 - start Surgery in the Rose Garden 2

In the spring season, Mázl struggles with grief with the head of surgery, Frynta, and gets closer to Bělá. He and Jakub move out of Gita's house, where Lucie and Hruška and their daughter Gita II will live. Jakub comes into puberty and prepares his father for problems (he becomes a vegan, a green activist and so on).

2009

Mazl is no longer the old wicker he used to be. He is very busy with his son Jakub and falls in love with Magda Tárová, who becomes his next fateful wife. She also lets him try his own medicine when he cheats on him with Dr. Pear. But he manages to forgive her and continues to build strong family ties, takes care of Jakub, who gets into trouble because of his first love, and helps Lucia, whom Hruška leaves with little Gita and goes abroad. At the end of the season, Magda wants to get pregnant, but she has a problem maintaining her pregnancy. This will put a wedge in their relationship and the planned adoption will not succeed.

2010

Mazl and Magda are trying to adopt again. Mázl consolidates his position in the hospital and unknowingly meets his almost adult son Cuba. Magda manages to get pregnant and shortly afterwards the partners marry. When Mázl finds out that Cuba is his biological son, he tries to keep it a secret from Magda and Cuba himself. But in the end, the whole secret is broken. Cuba and Jakub become friends and brothers, and finally on Christmas Day they help Magda with the birth of her third brother.

2011

This year he prepared existential difficulties for Mázl. As a hospital deputy, he has to deal with unpleasant personnel changes, and even close the gynecology and surgery departments. He also has problems in his personal life, because he is in debt due to the unfavorable purchase of land. He's trying to make money by acting on a TV show. This sideline will even jeopardize his position as a gynecologist. Všanc also gives a relationship with Magda, who hides everything. In the end, however, he leases the land with the pipeline to an entrepreneur who has a suitable use for him. In addition, he resolves disputes with Švarc at work and Jakub's problematic girlfriend Angie at home.

2012

Mazl continues to face family-type problems. The wedge is hammered into the family by Jakub's girlfriend Angie, because of which Jakub leaves his parents and does not talk to his father. He doesn't do very well at work and feels bad about himself. On the contrary, Magda sat down with the hospital management (Švarc), receives VIP patients and a number of financial rewards. Subsequently, he became involved in Švarc's policy regarding the transfer of the hospital to his personal company. In the end, Mázl reconciles with Jakub and Magda remains on the right side of power. In the autumn, Mázl's family survived a tragedy in the form of a crash, in which Magda almost lost her life. Mázl experienced this period very badly. However, after convalescence, Magda returned to life and work and prepared another infidelity for Mázl.

2013

Spring was a relief for Mazl. His story revolved around the pop star Kary Star, whose pregnancy Mázl had to monitor and also hide from the boulevard. Maz, will become the face of the AIDS campaign and continues to engage in intrigue at the head of the hospital. In the autumn, Mazl confirms to Linda that she is pregnant and it soon turns out that the child is Jakub's and that it is too late for an abortion. He and Magda agreed with Linda's family that it would be best to live in a semi-detached house. However, the house becomes fatal to Magda, who switches her forces here during the flu and dies of cardiac arrest on Mikuláš. The Mazles have spoiled the whole Christmas holidays, Čestmír closes in and mourns.

2014

During a difficult period, he is helped by his sister Mirka, who joins the family. But Mazl succumbs to seduction according to Renata, who is also a widow. Even the arrival of Magda's granddaughter will not pull him out of his depression. Mazl is dealing with Mirka, who longs for a child, but he knows he doesn't love her. In the end, Mirka herself breaks up with him. Mázl and Jakub take care of two small children and look for a female element in their household. Twins Dana and Jan come to Mázl's life. Mázl already knows the problematic Jana from the past, and her more conscientious sister Dana must promise that Jana will have nothing to do with babysitting. But the twins secretly change in babysitting and get so tangled up that Mázl falls in love with Jana again. Subsequently, a comedy of mistakes awaits him with the twins, but in the end the whole bastard collapses. But the relationship between Mázl and Jana culminates tragically. Jakub has a serious car accident due to Jana. He disagreed with Jana, but then their relationship resumes. However, Jakub also falls in love with Jana, and his unhappy love eventually forces Jana to leave the Mázl family for good.

2015

Mázl solves the middle-age crisis and the sadness of breaking up with Jana by drinking, and the monkey registers for an exchange stay in Uganda. Subsequently, Mázl meets a doctor from Aisha from this program, who will provide asylum from the beginning. However, their cooperation in the department is problematic. However, because of Aisha's daughter Viki, Mázl offers Aisha a marriage after prolonged vicissitudes in order to gain citizenship and not have to return to Uganda. But their case is ordered by Mázl's main enemy - social worker Neumann, who thwarts these plans. In the spring, Mázl happens to meet his next fateful wife, Alena. He experiences an explosive romance with her, initially full of mistakes and misunderstandings until the moment when Alena's mother Jarmila tells him that he is Alena's brother.

2016

Alena's apartment burns down and Alena, Jarmila and Ema end up in Mázl's apartment. Subsequently, Alena and Mázla's relationship is complicated by Alena's family - daughter Ema, who gets out of trouble and is having problems after being expelled from school, and her expartner and father Ema Knight, who blames Alena and Mázla for the situation around her daughter. He even took it medically. But even that will manage their relationship. Ema, who refuses to admit that she is fighting anorexia, pushes him into the wedge again. The concern for the daughter connects Alena and the Knights, who sleep together when the Maze is at the congress. Alena goes out with the truth and the Knight officially becomes Mázl's main enemy.

2017

Alena finds out she is pregnant. But he doesn't know if the child's father is a Knight or a Mazel. They compete for fatherhood and Alena, but Alena and Mázel love each other, so their relationship can handle it.

2018

Mázl deals with the fact that Benjamin is his father half with the Knight and both men are arguing and dragging over the child. Eventually, he befriends for a while, and Mazl even helps the Knight find a partner. He gets closer to Saša in an online environment under the Knight's name and then gets entangled in a situation in which Saša falls head over heels in love with him and complicates his personal relationships (Saša burns their supposed affair with Alena).

He must eventually accept that his daughter has her life and her head. At the end of the season, both Knight and Naďa leave Kamenice for Nadina's work in modeling. The autumn brought Mázl a career clash with a friend from the past, Martin, who also enchants Alena. During an internship abroad, Mázl looks into the maternity home project, which he will also start building in Kamenice. Alena is meanwhile subject to Martin's temptations.

2020

Mázl returns from an internship and in Martin's case the rape of a patient decides that he should not investigate yet. It is because of Martin that his relationship with Alena is fatally endangered and the family is going through very difficult times. Mázl and Martin also differentiate themselves at work, which often complicates their procedure in cases. After hesitation, Alena accepts Čestmír's offer to work in gynecology. Martin has a relationship with Lucia, but at the same time seduces Alena again. Lucia's friend Darek reveals her infidelity and Martin ends up in the hospital because of him. The suspicion falls on Čestmír, who finds himself in prison.

2021

Alena sees Martin and tries to regain Čestmír's trust. When it is explained who is really behind the attack on Martin, Mázl is released again. Although it is not easy at the beginning, everything in the family gradually returns to normal. In his work, Mázl sharply opposes Martin on his return, who has meanwhile settled in his place. A trial is underway against Dark, who escapes from prison.
